When asked why he still loves to film weddings his answer was  “There is something magical about being part of and filming a wedding. I believe it is the incredible energy and the positive vibe that makes it so magical. There is nothing more rewarding than capturing people at the  happiest time in their lives and creating beautiful memories. It is truly an awe inspiring process.”

Rob continues to inspire and provide mentorship to many up and coming young film makers. He heads a team of young enthusiastic individuals that are willing to go the extra mile to ensure that they create an outstanding and beautiful work of art.

Frequently Asked Questions

We are based in Johannesburg, South Africa

Yes, we love traveling and filming in new locations. We have filmed in many parts of South Africa, Southern Africa and internationally.

I personally have been filming weddings for over 25 years and all my staff have more than 10 years’ experience. All members have to earn their stripes before being allowed to be part of our creative team.

At DVI, we only create wedding films. It is our belief that you should only concentrate and be good at one art form rather than trying to be a “Jack of all trades”

You wouldn’t call an electrician when you actually need a plumber.

It is our aim to give our clients the very best. In order to achieve this, we must work well with all suppliers. The aim is to create the best team to ensure that the wedding couple experience the best day of their lives.

We ask for 8-10 weeks to complete the full wedding and 4-6 weeks to to produce the social media short film. But our aim is to exceed our clients’ expectations and to complete everything within 30 days of the wedding. We also offer an express service where we can complete everything within one week.

We would utilise a minimum of 2 operators at each function. It is physically impossible to be at more than one location at a time. Often the bride and groom get ready simultaneously at different locations so we would have one operator filming at each location filming all the detail. It is also imperative to have more than one angle during the formalities such as ceremony and speeches.

We try to capture the moments naturally, the photographers would in most cases set up and direct the couple. We film with long telephoto lenses so as not to be too close to our subjects. People often don’t know we are filming them.

We minimise lighting by using low light prime lenses and if lighting is used, it is  battery operated LED lights with no cables which don’t  generate any heat. Our microphones are also wireless.

Sound is so often overlooked by a lot of video companies. It is our opinion that sound is the most important aspect of the wedding film. The quality of mobile phones is getting so advanced that the only thing separating us from a guest with the latest iPhone is the sound quality and how we edit the final product.
